At the heart of our work is a simple but powerful belief: widows deserve love, respect, and the opportunity to live fulfilling lives. We are committed to improving the lives of widows and their children by providing them with the skills, resources, and support they need to become self-sufficient and overcome the challenges they face after the loss of a spouse.
In Nigeria, widows often face extreme hardship. Beyond the emotional grief of losing a loved one, many women are left to care for their children alone, facing economic uncertainty, social isolation, and even harassment. Uchegbu People Empowerment Foundation exists to stand beside these women, offering a lifeline through training, community projects, and a network of support that helps them rebuild their lives.

Widows Are Our Mothers
In many cultures, mothers are the backbone of the family, and widows, even more so, take on the responsibility of providing for and nurturing their children under incredibly difficult circumstances. But widows shouldn’t have to face these challenges alone. Your support can change that.
Widows in Nigeria, like in many parts of the world, often find themselves cut off from family support or community assistance after the loss of their husbands. Many are left to fend for themselves, struggling to provide for their children and secure basic necessities like food, clothing, and shelter. This often leads to situations of extreme poverty and vulnerability, where widows are exposed to exploitation, harassment, and abuse.
